Our new food history series Blasta begins tomorrow at 8:30pm on TG4!!! Set your reminders 🙂"The importance of goats milk. The value of milk especially goats milk in our diet as children was most important. In the early summer months the goats dined on wild garlic or (ramps) as we called them. Subsequently the milk smelled and tasted of garlic and was absolutely horrendous to drink. As there was nothing else we just had to put up with it or else try and keep the goats from eating the ramps which was nearly impossible. In winter time when the goats were dry, our milk was collected from a local farmer and we carried it home in a wee can."

Tá an chéad tsraith de Blasta le chraoladh ar TG4, ag tosú Dé Céadaooin an 31ú Deireadh Fómhair ag 8:30pm.

The first episode of Blasta will be broadcast on TG4 starting Wednesday the 31st of October at 8:30pm.

Delighted to announce that a National Treasures book is being made. Secure your copy now by visiting www.nationaltreasures.ie/shop!Big news, we're delighted to announce that after months of hard work, we've finally completed a National Treasures book which you can pre-order at www.nationaltreasures.ie/shop with shipping on the 12th of November !!!!

Produced by the National Treasures team, this beautifully-presented colour publication is the latest chapter in the National Treasures project. We asked the people of Ireland to rummage through attics and scour mantelpieces in order to uncover objects that say something about the history, culture and heritage of Ireland over the past 100 years. From a pair of Sonia O’Sullivan’s Olympic running shoes to a War of Independence grenade, the amazing response to the project revealed stories that were profound, entertaining, heartwarming and tragic. This book is the culmination of that campaign.

With a foreword by John Creedon, this fascinating publication reveals a selection of 200 diverse and fascinating objects that were unearthed by the project and presents them alongside the owners and the personal stories attached. The book, much like the project as a whole, reveals a unique crowd-sourced tapestry of modern Irish history, one that emphasises the voices of ordinary Irish people.

Your voices, your stories, your book, and an object to cherish in itself!

Shipping 12th of November. Pre-order now to secure your copy here www.nationaltreasures.ie/shop !

Much love,

The National Treasures Team
